The new Minecraft Movie is packed with fun moments from the game, but one special scene has touched the hearts of fans around the world.
When the characters Henry, Natalie, Garrett, and Steve first arrive in the Overworld, they see a pig wearing a crown. Henry asks, “Is that a king?” and Steve replies, “No. He’s a legend.” This may seem like a small moment, but it’s actually a tribute to a beloved Minecraft YouTuber named Technoblade.
Technoblade became famous for his amazing Minecraft skills and fun videos, starting back in 2013. He was known for winning big Minecraft battles, especially on the Hypixel server. He also made friends with other popular Minecraft creators, like Dream. The two often played together and had a friendly rivalry.
In 2021, Technoblade raised over $300,000 for the Sarcoma Foundation of America during a livestream—an amazing achievement made even more special because many fans donated even before the stream began.
Sadly, Technoblade passed away in 2022 after battling cancer. His final YouTube video featured a letter he wrote, where he thanked his fans and said how much he loved them. After his death, the Minecraft community came together to honor him. Hypixel created a special place for fans to leave messages, and Minecraft: Java Edition added a tribute message that read, “Technoblade never dies!”
Many YouTubers also made their own tributes. Dream wrote a song, and TommyInnit released a video featuring clips of Technoblade’s reactions to 100 Minecraft deaths.
The idea to include Technoblade in the Minecraft Movie came from actor Sebastian Hansen, and director Jared Hess said it’s his favorite Easter egg in the film. The moment means a lot to fans, with both kids and adults recognizing the tribute and feeling emotional.
Steve was right in the movie—Technoblade isn’t just a player. He’s a true legend.
