A quiet town turns into a place of horror in the brand-new trailer for Weapons, the upcoming movie from Barbarian director Zach Cregger. Starring Ozark and Inventing Anna actress Julia Garner, this chilling thriller is set to hit theaters on August 8, and the new preview shows just how intense things are about to get.
In the trailer, Garner plays Justine Grady, a school teacher speaking at a tense town meeting. She’s trying to explain the shocking situation: every child in her class disappeared — except one. The children all left their homes at the same time, running in a strange way with their arms stiff by their sides. Understandably, the town is panicking. Parents want answers, and one angry father, Archer Graff (played by Josh Brolin), demands that Justine be investigated.
But things only get weirder from there. The trailer shows creepy scenes with distorted faces, dark creatures, and a growing sense that something truly evil is at work. As Justine and Archer dig deeper into the mystery, they realize this is much more than a missing kids case — something far more terrifying is happening.
Along with Garner and Brolin, the film features a strong cast, including:
- Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story)
- Austin Abrams (Euphoria)
- Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange)
- Cary Christopher
While the missing kids mystery drives the beginning of the movie, the director promises that it’s only the start. Zach Cregger said the story will take a wild turn halfway through, leading to even more shocking moments. “It doesn’t leave that question behind,” Cregger explained, “but the movie becomes something much crazier.”
Fans of Barbarian will be eager to see what Cregger has cooked up this time, especially with such a talented cast. Weapons is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about horror films of the year.
