Lilo & Stitch Becomes First 2025 Movie to Make $1 Billion at the Box Office

Disney’s Lilo & Stitch (2025) is a huge hit! The live-action movie has made over $1 billion around the world. It’s the first film of 2025 to reach this big number.

The movie tells the sweet story of a lonely girl named Lilo and her blue alien friend, Stitch. Fans all over the world love it. So far, it has earned $416.2 million in the U.S. and $584.8 million from other countries, making it the top-grossing movie of the year.

It had a record-breaking start when it opened over Memorial Day weekend. In just four days, it made $183 million in the U.S., which is the biggest Memorial Day opening in box office history. Only two movies this year have made more than $400 million in the U.S., and this is one of them.

Outside the U.S., Lilo & Stitch has been a massive success too. It is now Disney’s biggest live-action movie ever in Mexico and is the number one movie in many countries across Europe and Latin America. Latin American audiences alone helped bring in $200 million.

In fact, a sequel is already being made, thanks to the movie’s big success. Fans are also going back to watch the original animated Lilo & Stitch and its spin-offs on Disney+. These have now been streamed over 640 million hours on Disney+ worldwide.

This win puts Lilo & Stitch alongside other big Disney hits like Moana 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Inside Out 2 — all movies that also passed the $1 billion mark in the past 13 months.

So, Stitch (also known as Experiment 626) isn’t going anywhere. The little blue alien will return soon for more fun. Until then, you can still catch Lilo & Stitch in theaters!
