Before Mario and Luigi jump back into theaters for The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, S.H.Figuarts has launched a brand-new action figure collection inspired by the famous Nintendo characters.
The set includes four main figures — Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi — along with a special playset filled with accessories so fans can recreate the Mushroom Kingdom at home. The playset features goombas, pipes, bricks, and more, letting collectors build obstacle courses just like in the video games.
Each figure comes with a baseplate featuring the character’s logo or icon, plus extra parts and decorative pieces. The figures range in price from $38 to $78 and are now available for pre-order on Amazon, with delivery expected in April 2026 — just in time for the sequel’s release.
The Movie That Started It All
Released in 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie became the second-highest-grossing film of the year, earning over $1.3 billion worldwide — just behind Barbie. The animated adventure featured Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. The story followed the brothers after they stumbled into the Mushroom Kingdom through a hidden warp pipe in Brooklyn.
What’s Next for Mario on the Big Screen?
The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set for release in 2026. While the plot is still a secret, the first movie’s post-credit scene hinted that Yoshi could play a big role. Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri also revealed that the sequel will appeal to audiences who may not be familiar with Mario or Nintendo yet.
There are also rumours of a Donkey Kong movie after Nintendo filed a copyright for an “untitled Donkey Kong project.” Seth Rogen, who voiced Donkey Kong in the Mario film, suggested it could be inspired by Donkey Kong Country.
For now, fans can stream The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Prime Video and look forward to more adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom.
